The Scarab, Scorpion and Horseshoe crab collection are made from real animals. They are collected when they are dead and are dried and cast in resin.
The Scarabs are from Thailand, Malaysia, Himalayas and Egypt.
The scarab earrings are made from beetle wings. The wings are beautiful and iridescent (gold green, blue and turquoise). They maintain this iridescent colour when they have died of natural causes. If they are killed prematurely, the colours of the wings turn black.
ANIMAL METAL COLLECTION
Chaovana and Virat are jewel designers behind most of the animal brooches, rings and bracelets. The pieces are inspired by different cultures and beliefs. The Western Horoscope and Chinese Horoscope mostly influence the designs of the collection.
Most of the pieces are made of Brass, White Bronze, Pink Bronze or Silver and have a raw textured look about them.
How to take care of the “Metal”
Brass and Silver naturally oxidize over time. To maintain a shiny look, use a Metal cleaner, Metal polishing cloth or lemon to restore your jewelry’s luster.
AFRICAN HANDBAGS AND ACCESSORIES
The African handbags (Fashion statement bags, Wine bags, Picnic bags and Household use bags) in the current collection are handmade in Kenya by Turkana women. They are made from dried reeds and natural coloring, which are good for the environment because we care about sustainable fashion.
The curator has collaborated with the different women from different villages in Turkana to bring out the craftsmanship and beauty of the pieces. It’s also a form of employment for the women.
The Turkana men make the beaded hand jewelry.
